  • Mark Buccola

    Principal

Mark Buccola is the Founder and Principal of Underground Service Company, a general engineering contractor that specializes in underground utilities and pipeline testing.

Mr. Buccola received his general education from California State University, Fullerton and worked for an underground utility repair company for 6 years before receiving his General Engineering Contractor license from the State of California in 2000. Since that time, Mr. Buccola has performed nearly 10,000 field investigations with several milestone projects.

In 2002 working with the State of California, the Orange County Sanitation District and the EPA, Mr. Buccola planned and executed testing that identified the source of bacteria release from within a 2-mile segment of sanitary sewer pipeline that eluded operators and forced the closure of the State Beach. Mr. Buccola managed and directed the emergency repairs and pipe-bursting project to replace the leaking segment.

In 2004, as Principal of Underground Service Company, Mr. Buccola engaged with Parsons to manage the utility investigation and mapping for the FAA’s Fuel Storage Program Upgrade at all 25 Air Route Control Centers across the country. This 10-year commitment and work effort helped ensure the protection of critical life safety systems during site improvements.

The County of Orange engaged with Underground Service Company in 2015 to develop and implement testing of the sanitary sewer collection system in a portion of Dana Point Harbor. Mr. Buccola coordinated with city, county, business and utility stakeholders to perform the work effort safely, provide a conclusive deliverable, without interruption to public access.

Underground Service Company is currently engaged with FivePoint Communities and the City of Irvine to assist with the site development of the former MCAS El Toro in Irvine California. In this project that began in 2005, Mr. Buccola managed maintenance of the existing underground infrastructure through 2018, provided utility designation and SUE data & design support services to city representatives & property developer during development and oversaw construction of interim utility connections during site improvements.

Mr. Buccola is Bilingual in Spanish and English and is a Member of the CGA, (Common Ground Alliance) APWA, (American Public Works Association) and NUCA. (National Utility Contractor Association)
